We love the variety of Glebe Point Road

Glebe is popular with people from all walks of life. From young professionals to students to backpackers and travellers, the artistic vibe, alternative lifestyle and closeness to just about everything make it an attractive place to call home.

Known for its specialty shops, restaurants and cafes, the main street of Glebe – Glebe Point Road – runs the length of the suburb from Broadway to the water’s edge. Every Saturday, Glebe Primary School is home to Glebe Markets, with its arts, crafts, homemade edibles and trendy clothes, and Glebe Point Road plays host to an annual street fair.

The history of Glebe dates back to 1790, when Governor Arthur Phillip made a land grant to Reverend Richard Johnson, chaplain of the First Fleet. Architecturally speaking, Glebe has some great examples of 19th century housing, from terraces to larger freestanding homes.
