With a long-standing commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion, pride has long been part of BresicWhitney’s culture, and that of the communities in which it operates.
Ahead of this year’s annual Sydney Mardi Gras, we sat down with four of our people to hear what pride means to them, the advice they’d give to others, and more.

What does pride mean to you?
Romany Brooks, Sales Agent: “Pride is knowing that the journey from being a young girl in the country who couldn’t celebrate her sexuality or be herself, can now live openly in a society that’s accepting, and celebrates and promotes equality.”
Grace Maroon, Concierge Team Leader: “Pride to me is being comfortable in my own skin, and having people around me who accept me and love me so I can be myself. For the community, it’s having the people 50 years ago who did the Mardi Gras protest, and now for us it can be celebration. Love, kindness, happiness, so we can all celebrate from what they’ve done.”
On the advice she’d give to others, Romany shares: “Anything that you need to know, [know that] the answers are within. So please know that you’re enough and know that you are okay. And if you’re not feeling okay, seek support. Don’t do it alone and know that you as your unique self, is what the world wants.”
On what he’d like to see more of in society in future, Darren shares: “I’d like to see more visibility, and I guess what I mean by that is that people who aren’t comfortable presenting who they are or presenting to society, just get out there and be visible. People are going to appreciate you, they’re going to respect you, just for being you.”
